Grande Dame Nature was born from a legacy that began long before me—a legacy of healing, strength, entrepreneurship, and a deep connection to the land.
Although I never had the opportunity to meet my great-grandmother, Zoune, her spirit has always been present in my life. Family members who knew her believe that I inherited her gift for healing. Zoune was known as a “baby catcher,” a traditional community midwife who helped women give birth in the mountains of southeastern Haiti. She relied on ancestral knowledge, experience, intuition, and the healing resources available in nature.
Before I fully understood the significance of my family history, I felt drawn to study maternal care, specifically to become a doula. My path later led me to become a licensed massage therapist and dedicate myself to helping others through therapeutic touch. Looking back, I understand that my calling was not accidental. It was the continuation of something planted within my family generations ago. Although the gift skipped three generations before reaching me, I am deeply grateful that it found its way back.
Sevilid
My grandmother Sevilid also helped shape the woman and entrepreneur I would become. She raised seven children—six daughters and one son—while owning and operating a business of her own. Five of her daughters also became small-business owners. I grew up surrounded by women who knew how to create, provide, persevere, and turn what they had into something meaningful.
Aricie
My other grandmother, Aricie, taught me that caring for the body could begin with something as simple as a warm cup of tea. Before we went to school each morning, she made sure every child drank a cup. It was more than a morning routine; it was her way of nurturing, protecting, and preparing us for the day. I continue that ritual today, carrying with me the comfort and wisdom she passed down.
Palm Christi
At the heart of Grande Dame Nature is Palm Christi, also known as castor oil. In Haiti, Palm Christi is more than an oil—it is part of our way of life. For generations, Haitian families have used it to care for the hair, nourish the skin, massage the body, and support traditional wellness practices.
My family owns land in southeastern Haiti, where we grow the Palm Christi plant and cold-press its seeds to produce the oil that forms the foundation of our products. This connection allows us to honor the land, preserve a treasured Haitian tradition, and carry our family’s heritage into every bottle.
Grande Dame Nature is my way of honoring the women who came before me—especially Zoune, Sevilid, and Aricie—while continuing the legacy they passed down to future generations. Every product is rooted in ancestral wisdom, cultivated through nature, and created with purpose.
This is more than a business. It is my inheritance, my calling, and my way of carrying my ancestors’ healing legacy forward.
